Why does my cubase keep crashing
Kontakt 6. Messages: 8. After updating Kontakt I have been getting constant random crashes in Cubase It's happened 9 times so far and I also get the error message about kontakt. I have tried reinstalling everything, deleting the registry, deleting the appdata kontakt folder and reinstalling but nothing has worked.
I cannot continue with my project because of this. Messages: Hey, Sorry to hear you are experiencing this. You mentioned it seems random, but can you provide any insight on the workflows you were doing when this happened?
Yaron NI , Jul 8, Hi Yaron, Yeah it seems random , it has happened when just midi editing or it can happen during vst playback. Maybe somebody can help understanding this crash files …. OH and I did update all iloks, elicenser, plugin version, tried disabled preferences Cubase save mode etc. Thanks for the feedback. You mean nothing really related to the new Cubase Update, just some corrupt windows OS files?
Cheers, lokotus. Make sure you don't bump them when recording. If you wiggle cables enough to drop the connection you will lock up your system or dump your DAW session. This is true whether its an interface or a HDD. About what size should I be looking at? My remote drives are all gig. I have larger drives at home for archival storage.
It doesn't matter as long as the drive is big enough for your session and mixing and bounce downs. Alrighty I just ordered me a gb 3. So what exactly do I do with the drive. Put cubase and everything associated with it on the drive?
Do I uninstall it and reinstall it onto the new drive? OS drive contains windows and all the program files. The auxiliary drive contains the destination folder for the recorded audio and also the temp files. These destinations are set in your DAW. The only thing on this drive is audio. Do not chain it on the same cable as the OS drive. Ok so I just hooked up my handy dandy new HD and started recording again and what do you know, it locked up.
I moved the destination folder for the recorded audio but not the temp files. Where are they located? I coudn't find them. The only way to stop it is to use Task Manager to end the Cubase process which means I get no crash report. Nothing is overclocked. Everything was fine yesterday - finished working on a project, saved it and shut down, then fired up today and all of a sudden I can't open Pro-C or Pro-Q without freezing.
I checked my GFX drivers, and nothing had changed they were up to date a few weeks ago, and all has been fine up until today. I've checked that I'm using the latets versions of the plugins, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Cubase, just to be on the safe side, but the issue continues. It doesn't matter whether I open an existing project or create a new one and It's not intermittent - it doesn't matter what I do, or how many times I try rebooting, as soon as I try to open either plugin, Cubase stops responding, although if audio was playing at the time, it continues to play.
If anybody has any idea what could be causing this, I'd be very grateful for an end to my frustration. As an additional bit of weirdness, I just tried it again - I don't think that it's opening the plugin that upsets Cubase..
